68th Gandhi Mela and Exhibition inaugurated
SILCHAR, January 31: The 68th Gandhi Mela and Exhibition was inaugurated by the Vice–Chancellor of Assam University Somnath Dasgupta last evening here on Narsing School–Government Boys’ School playground. Traditionally every year, the fair flags off on January 30 in remembrance of the day when the Father of the Nation was gunned down, but it takes around one and half months more to begin the fair.
Addressing the assembly of people from different walks of life, Somnath Dasgupta underlined the importance of exhibition of different agricultural goods in the fair.
