Candidates file nomination papers for ZP election
DIBRUGARH, Jan 8: The nomination papers of 54 candidates contesting for the posts of Zila Parishad member in the first phase of election in the district were found valid. However, one person withdrew his nomination. Meanwhile, one contestant for Anchalik Panchayats withdrew nomination papers even after being found valid. Now, 178 persons will contest for the same. 1,095 contestants will vie for the posts of gaon panchayat president after the withdrawal of a candidate. Five out of 1,700 candidates, who filed nomination papers to fight for the posts of gaon panchayat ward members and whose papers were found valid, took back their papers.
