Tribal Sangha demands proper rehabilitation of affected people
SILCHAR, Aug 3: All Assam Tribal Sangha, Cachar district unit, submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Engineer, construction, NF Railway, Maligaon, demanding urgent steps to ensure rehabilitation of the affected people whose lands and property were acquired by the NF Railway for the construction of Silchar–Lumding broad–gauge. The lands and properties of the inhabitants of Dima Hasao and Barak Valley were acquired by the NF Railway with the assurance of proper rehabilitation. But, as memorandum says, the affected people were not compensated till now, creating their life miserable. Diganta Barman, vice president, said that due to absence of attention and due care, the developments of these areas are totally halted and subsequently the affected people are reeling under deep frustration. They requested the authority to take proper step to address the issue.
