Pratul Mukherjee to hold musical night

SILCHAR, August 5: The famous singer from Kolkata, Pratul Mukherjee, will hold a musical night at district library auditorium here on August 20. The event is being organized by Pathikrit Shilpi Ghusti, a cultural organization of the town, to celebrate its second anniversary.

The maestro known for his famous songs like aami Banglay gaan gai, amra dhan katar gaan gai will give a solo performance.

Prasanta Bhattacharjee, Secretary of Pathikrit Shilpi Ghusti, said that there will be no ticket system and the entire show will be free of cost. He, however, added that the entire expenditure of the artiste will be borne by the organization.

“We want to offer a quality musical night to the people of this valley. We do not want to make the event only for rich people who can afford to buy a ticket. Any person can enjoy the event irrespective of one’s financial status,” he said.

Bhattacharjee said that Dipankar Gupta, Secretary, All Bengal Nazrul Sahitya Parishad, Kolkata, would be the main speaker of the evening. He will throw light on the several aspects of music and culture.

Meanwhile, Pathikrit Shilpi Ghusti organized several competitions to encourage the children. The events included art competition, song competition, dance and recitation. Every event was divided into four groups. The prizes will be given to the winners on August 20.

Biswaraj Bhattacharjee and Anindita Bhattacharjee were the judges for song competition, Mili Sinha and Champa Bhattacharjee were the judges for dance competition and Rajib Bhattacharjee and Balaram Dey were two judges for recitation.
