Borkhola: Corruption in the implementation of different schemes and projects in Borkhola
SMKS demands independent probe
SILCHAR, September 6: Sarbangin Manab Kalyan Sangha (SMKS), an NGO, has served an ultimatum to the district administration to file a PIL at Silchar court if the administration does not order independent probe into the alleged large scale of corruption in the implementation of different schemes and projects in Borkhola.
They members of the NGO alleged that from 2008–2009 to 2012–2013 financial years, around 50 schemes were sanctioned under East Borkhola ZPC, the work of which were showed to be completed as per the official reports. But in reality a total of eleven schemes which have total estimate of Rs 36 lakh show work discrepancy. The official record says that the funds sanctioned for these schemes were utilized and the work has been completed. But the members of the organization alleged that only 10 per cent of the work of these eleven schemes was completed.
They further brought into focus another instance of anomalies in the implementation of government projects. They said that under Chutodudpatil Gaon Panchayat and Anchalik Panchayat, it has been showed that 47 lakh and 34 lakh were utilized for the different projects in the last two years. But, according to them the utilization and work completion were not more than 15 to 20 per cent. They raised their fingers against the then zilla parishad member Sathirani Das, the then GP president Samrendra Dev and AP member Sulekha Roy for allegedly being involved in the corruption. The organization demanded a high level enquiry into the implementation of 1 crore 17 lakh 34 thousand in Borkhola area. They said that a total of Rs 6 lakh was showed to be utilized for the building of a stadium at Machughat. But, nothing has been done in this regard.
The NGO has claimed that they had collected all the informations through RTI and had done field verification by the team of experts.
