Lion’s Club, Lakhipur with Pragati Club organizes free dental camp

Lion’s Club organizes free dental camp

SILCHAR, September 4: Lion’s Club, Lakhipur greater, in association with Pragati Club organized a free dental camp at Binnakandighat under Lakhipur constituency of Cachar district recently. A total of 180 diabetes patients and 220 dental patients availed themselves the benefit of the camp, which was attended by a panel of doctors.

At the outset, an inaugural function was held under the presidentship of Laxmi Narayan Kurmi. Sathi Karmakar, president of Cachar Zilla Parishad graced the occasion as the chief guest and lauded the efforts of both the organizations. Expressing her gratitude to the members of Lion’s Club, she said that such camps largely benefit the people belonging to financially weaker section of the society.

Describing the effort of the organizations as ‘noble’, Sathi Karmakar added to say that such camps should be held regularly so that the rural people could get medical facilities at their doorsteps.

Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Durga Kanta Pandey, retired headmaster of Jugai Mathra ME School, Kumud Bandhan Dey, former principal, Arl Higher Secondary School, etc.

All the dignitaries while speaking appreciated Lion’s Club for taking the initiative. They underlined the importance of free medical camps in the area.

The doctors who attended the patients at the day–long camp were Dr Soumen Ghosh, dental surgeon, Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), Rajdeep Paul, dental specialist and the manager, Dr Abhijit Bhattacharjee, and his team of 104 Sanjeevani Service. RK Snabal Sinha, secretary, Dilip Kumar Paul and Bala Singh of Pragati Club were also present.
